If you’ve come across TableTalkerPrinting.co.uk via a quick Google search, you’ve probably come across tent cards in the results too – maybe even tent tables as well…
They look the same, and many printers seem to use the names interchangeably. So, what’s the difference?
Tent cards and table talkers are pretty much the same thing – printed cards which have been folded into a prism for easy self-standing display – but when it comes to choosing a template or designing your artwork, there’s a key difference between the two which you’ll need to consider.
Tent cards explained
Tent cards (also known as table tents) typically feature two large vertical panels and a smaller base panel, forming more of a ‘wedge’ than a uniform triangular prism.
With a tent card, you get fewer panels to work with (since there’s not much point printing onto the base panel), but each panel offers more space for your artwork; making it the better choice for displaying lots of information at once.
Table talkers explained
Table talkers offer a uniform triangular prism shape with three equally-sized panels, or a rectangular prism shape with four. Unlike tent cards, no one panel is the ‘base’; table talkers can be stood up on any one of the panels or even placed vertically on one of their outer faces.
Of course, you can choose to designate one panel as the ‘base’ and leave it completely blank, but then you won’t be able to take advantage of the extra panel that table talkers provide over tent cards.
Table talkers are the better choice if you’re looking to display multiple promotions, since each panel can be dedicated to a different offer or event. But keep in mind, unless you make each panel design identical, you’ll always run the risk of some customers missing the panels which aren’t facing them (particularly if you choose to display them horizontally – not everyone will think to flip the ‘base’ panel over to read it).
